Building Society
Easy
Access Savings
The
Teachers Building Society has two instant access savings accounts,
Call Save and
Minster
Spire. The minimum investment required to open
these
accounts is £1
and £500 respectively.
The
Call Save account is operated by telephone
(and post for cheque deposits).
The Minster Spire account
is
managed by post only.
With
the Call Save account you can take out
up to four withdrawals per year
without
loss of normal interest. Applications can be
made by post only. Download
the
form
from their site. Include a cheque for
at least £1 with the maximum deposit
being
£350,000 (or £750K if you wish to open
a joint account).
Withdrawals
are made by phone using a BACS transfer
to your chosen bank account.
Deposits
are made by cheque (by post) or by bank
transfer into your account or using
a
standing order for regular inward payments.
With
the Minster Spire account applications
once again can only be made by post.
A
cheque to the value of at least £500
must be enclosed. If the account balance
should
fall below this level then the interest
rate will fall to the society's minimum
and
the account may be closed down.
Withdrawals
can only be made by cheque by return
post. Like the above Call Save
account,
deposits
can be made by cheque or by bank
transfer / standing order.
Other
accounts offered include ISA, fixed
rate bond, regular and corporate savings.
The
Teachers Building Society was formed in 1966
and specialises in mortgages for
teachers
and
others working in education but also
provides general savings accounts
to
everyone.
They
also provide other services such as
insurance and will writing.
