This instant access savings account from the Skipton Building Society can be

operated in one of two ways. You can open either the online only version of the

account or you can choose the branch, phone (Skipton Direct) and postal based

option.

 

If you decide to operate the account via a branch then a passbook is provided

and transactions (both withdrawals and deposits) can be carried out in cash or

cheque and bank transfer. You can also make deposits by debit card.

 

In branch, cash withdrawals of up to £250 and cheque withdrawals of up to

£100,000 are permitted without notice. Cheques for larger amounts are sent

from Head Office.

 

Where you have opted to manage your account online withdrawals can be carried

out by an electronic bank transfer to your nominated bank or building society

account. Deposits can still be carried out by debit card, cash or cheque in branch

along with transfers from another bank or building society account.

 

The minimum opening and operating balance (and withdrawal amount) is only £1.

The maximum allowed balance is £1M. You must be UK resident and at least 16

and accounts can also be opened jointly.

 

You can also choose to have your interest paid annually (on the last day of

November) or monthly. Currently, a good rate of interest in being paid on

the account.

 

Their other savings and investment products include bonds, various online

accounts, ISAs and notice and regular savings varieties.

 

The Skipton Building Society is a mutual society that was founded in 1853.

It is the fourth largest building society in the UK and has 105 branches.
