Northern
Rock plc (Virgin Money)
Virgin
Easy Access Saver (was Everyday
Access)
Please
note that the Northern Rock Everyday
Access account has been discontinued
and
has been superceded by the new
Virgin Easy Access Saver account (click
on link).
The account is virtually
identical,
though, in it's operation and the facilities
it offers.
This
is because since
November 2011 Virgin
Money has been the new owner of
Northern
Rock plc.
Up
until recently Northern Rock plc had
been owned by the state.
The previous
Northern Rock Everyday Access savings account
was an instant access
account
that could be opened with a minimum initial deposit
of £1. Withdrawals
and
further deposits were also a minimum
£1.
The
account came with a passbook if you
chose to manage it through any Northern
Rock
branch. They have numerous branches
throughout the country. It could
also
be operated through Head Office by post,
if so desired.
You
could fund your account with cash (branch
only) and cheques (min £250) and
once fully opened you could set up a standing
order from your personal current
account and also use BACS and CHAPS.
Withdrawals
could be made by cash at any branch (up
to £500 per day), by counter
cheque (up to £500,000 per day) or by
bank transfer or CHAPS to your
specified
personal bank or building
society account.
The maximum balance was
and still is £100,000 for this particular
account but you
can
still save
up to
£2M in
total in all Northern
Rock (Virgin Money) accounts you may
hold.
It
is open to anyone aged 16 and over and
up to four individuals can jointly hold
an
account.
You
can apply for the new Virgin Easy Access
Saver account
online, in branch, by post
or by
phone.
Interest
can be paid either annually or monthly.
Virgin
Money (was Northern
Rock
plc) offers a wide range of savings accounts
(currently more
than 20
including
Cash ISAs, easy access like the one
detailed,
limited access, fixed term
and
several children's) and even a current
account.
They
also offer mortgages and insurance.
Return
