HSBC
Basic Bank Account
This
is a basic personal UK bank account
from high street banking giant HSBC
that
comes with an ATM card which you can
use to withdraw up to £200 in cash
per
day (subject to available funds).
No debit card
or
cheque
book is provided with this account
which is the case with
many
but by no
means all basic UK current accounts. There are
also no overdraft
facilities which is
not surprising as it is
primarily designed for those who have
not
had a bank account before,
are foreigners temporarily resident
in the UK or who
have had credit problems previously.
You must also be at least 18 years old.
Standing
Orders
and Direct Debits are provided as standard,
though, as is
Internet and
telephone
banking. You can also operate this
account through
a Post Office
(using your ATM card).
You
can apply for this HSBC basic bank account
by post, phone or in branch.
Adverse
credit is allowed, although no undischarged bankrupts
or those with
a
history of fraud (CIFAS flags) are accepted.
For
basic accounts with debit cards see
our
UK bank account
information page.

to prepaid credit cards or
business bank account
page.
